Local Homebuilders Partner Up to Support Charity: Building A Community of Hope

Raleigh-area homebuilders Homes By Dickerson and Robuck Homes have joined forces with Raleigh Dream Center (RDC) to support its transformative Community of Hope project. This initiative aims to restore hope and rebuild lives, particularly for individuals battling addiction. On October 11, a Key Ceremony was held to celebrate the opening of two single-family homes built by the homebuilders for RDC’s residential addiction recovery program.

A Beacon of Hope

“We are deeply honored to be a part of the Community of Hope project with Raleigh Dream Center,” shared Brant Chesson, CEO of Homes By Dickerson. “They are a beacon of hope and compassion, dedicated to transforming lives and making a difference in our community.”

The Community of Hope program is central to RDC’s mission of helping individuals find freedom from addiction. Through a free residential recovery program, this initiative offers men the opportunity to rebuild their lives and find a fresh start. The new homes will significantly expand RDC’s capacity to reach more individuals in need, reinforcing its commitment to restoring hope and realizing dreams.

The Story Behind Raleigh Dream Center

Raleigh Dream Center’s journey began in 2014 when Pastor Jeremy Porras, then a Music Pastor, was called to a new mission after encountering someone days away from homelessness. “I had no experience with this kind of need, but I asked the Lord to use me,” he recalled. “From there, He gave me compassion and a love for people who are hurting and going through difficult circumstances, and I continued to take steps of faith, one step at a time.”

Inspired by the original Dream Center founded in Los Angeles in 1994, Pastor Jeremy established the Raleigh Dream Center with the same purpose: to combat homelessness, food insecurity, and addiction through grassroots efforts. From its humble beginnings with the Adopt-A-Block food ministry, RDC has grown to include a mobile food pantry, a food warehouse, and other community-focused initiatives. In 2021 alone, RDC surpassed one million meals served and now reaches 34 communities through its services.

Expanding the Recovery Program

Raleigh Dream Center opened its first recovery house in 2021, offering 10 beds for men seeking freedom from addiction. The two new homes, built by Homes By Dickerson and Robuck Homes, will allow RDC to extend this vital service to even more individuals in the community.

“We know the community,” Pastor Jeremy explained. “Our goal is to build relationships. If you want out of your situation, we can get you into a free program at the Dream Center tonight. We want to create an opportunity for the men of Raleigh to experience freedom from addiction and to move forward as healthy individuals.”

Raleigh Dream Center’s Mission

Raleigh Dream Center is a Christ-centered inner-city resource hub dedicated to addressing addiction, hunger, trauma, homelessness, and unemployment. Through its residential recovery and community outreach programs, RDC provides supportive services and resources at no cost to participants. It is a safe haven for individuals seeking to transform their lives and achieve self-sufficiency.
